About Us

The Mangalore Co-operative Town Bank Ltd has its roots deeply embedded in the co-operative movement of Dakshina Kannada, formerly known as South Canara District. This movement, which aimed at promoting financial inclusion and community welfare, inspired a group of visionary leaders to establish a co-operative institution for the benefit of the local people.

The foundation of the bank traces back to 14th December 1917, when the institution received its Co operative Society license(No-2466), and it was formally established in the year 1918 at Carstreet, Mangalore, in the South Canara District. The bank was founded by a dedicated group of individuals, including prominent personalities such as Ullal Anand Rao and Ullal Ram Rao, who played a vital role in nurturing the co-operative spirit in the region.

Initially, the institution functioned as a co-operative society, focusing on mobilizing savings and providing financial assistance to its members. With steady growth and increasing public trust, the society expanded its operations over the decades.

A significant milestone in its journey came on 28 th November 1986, when it obtained a banking license, marking its transformation into a full-fledged co-operative bank. This transition enabled the institution to offer a wider range of banking services and strengthen its role in the financial ecosystem.

Today, The Mangalore Co-operative Town Bank Ltd is recognized as a Tier-2 Urban Co-operative Bank, reflecting its stability and growth.

The bank currently operates through five branches across Dakshina Kannada District, with its operational area extending to Udupi District as well.

With over a century of service, The Mangalore Co-operative Town Bank Ltd continues to uphold the principles of co-operation, trust, and community development, playing a significant role in the economic progress of the region.
